Job Summary:

Lead Operational Risk Governance, including RCSA, Scenario Analysis, Loss Data Collection, Risk Appetite and Enterprise Operational Risk reporting programs across MUFG Americas.

Essential Functions

Author Operational Risk Appetite Statement and coordinate related activities across op risk sub-types.
Maintain the Operational Risk Policies, Standards and Governance requirements, including coordination of the operational risk management committee agendas.
Oversee the Operational Loss Data collection process to ensure that data is complete, accurate, reliable, and timely.
Provide guidance to ORM Loss Data staff, business lines, and BURCOs on classification and attribution of operational losses.
Own and maintain the Operational Risk Incident Reporting policy and any procedures required to implement it.
Lead RCSA program across the enterprise, including standards, training, taxonomies, reporting and analytics.
Maintain procedures for the review, challenge and oversight of the first line of defense execution of core ORM program requirements.
Lead Scenario Analysis program across the enterprise.
Create the annual scenario analysis plan in accordance with the Bank's scenario analysis policy and ensure its completion.
Facilitate scenario workshops across all business lines. Workshop participants are typically Managing Director through Policy Making Officers as well as Chief Risk Officers and entity CEOs.
Prepare scenario outcomes for presentation to Division heads for approval, as well as preparing material for ORMC, CCAR SteerCo, and other governing bodies.
Assist as needed in preparation of qualitative elements of operational loss forecasts for regulatory stress tests such CCAR and DFAST, including design and facilitation of new scenarios and workshops and preparation of material risk schedules.
Own and maintain the Scenario Analysis policy and any procedures required to implement it.
Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc operational risk reports to ensure high-quality information for senior management and the Board
Provide training on operational risk management and self-assessment tools and techniques to various levels within the bank.
Provide Operational Risk Management consultation to business units and BURCOs on risk and control self- assessments, key risk indicators, and other operational risk topics.
Participate in industry forums to keep abreast of current range of practice in Operational Risk programs.
Provide thought leadership on various operational risk topics including assessment design, quantification of qualitative information, emerging/material risks, improvements in reporting, key risk metrics, etc.
Other duties as assigned.
Manage relationships with internal ORM and Risk Governance / Central Risk and Control Office stakeholders, line of business Risk and Control Officers and Internal Audit


Fifteen years or more of advancing experience in advisory and/or analytical risk position
Ability to influence without direct authority across multiple stakeholder groups in 1st and 2nd LOD
Ability to execute in a dynamic environment with senior and executive management
At least ten years' experience in an operational risk position in a financial institution
Strong analytical skills & problem solving capabilities
Detail oriented and well organized
Strong communication and presentation skills
Strong work ethic, ability to make decisions, & work under tight deadlines
Proven skills and understanding of identification and assessment of risks and controls.
Experience in writing policy and procedure
Some travel may be required


Bachelor's degree or higher

Interaction with the CRO and Executive Leadership
Interact with supervisory personnel
Participate in industry forums

Business and Technical Knowledge

Expert knowledge of industry standard operational risk concepts and frameworks.
Strong understanding of operational risk-related regulatory guidance, including risk and control self-assessment, internal loss data and scenario analysis
Knowledge of risk governance framework, risk management systems (including GRC platforms) and applicable guidance
Solid understanding of the banking industry, financial and regulatory requirements, product offerings and key operational processes.
Specialization in corporate and investment banking and markets activities is preferred.
