CNC Programmer

The CNC Programmer is responsible for the flat pattern layout and the programming of precision sheet metal fabricating tools including the Amada CNC turret punch press and the Amada CNC laser fabricating machine.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development of flat patterns from customer supplied CAD files, blueprints, drawings, and a variety of electronic files, then creating part programs using Amada's AP100US CADCAM System programming software.


  • Importing and unfolding CAD files provided by our customers.


  • Prepare assemblies and weldments for fabrication.


  • Perform expert precision sheet metal programming to successfully and quickly develop flat patterns from blueprints, drawings and electronic files.


  • Perform calculations necessary to compensate for material type and thickness, bend deductions, bend reliefs and bend radii.


  • Read, interpret and understand blueprints and engineering drawings, both hard copy as well as CAD files.


  • Apply tooling and sequencing technique to produce high quality CNC Turret programs.


  • Provide technical support to EPOCS customers on an as needed basis. Assisting customer's designers or engineers with technical design recommendations or changes to make parts more manufacturable.

  • Demonstrate expert precision sheet metal programming skills including the ability to successfully and quickly develop flat patterns from blueprints, drawings and electronic files.
  • Familiar with forming, welding, hardware installation, and all the shop processes that your layouts and programs will be used to produce.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail and thorough in completing work tasks.

Education & Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent, Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field a plus.

A minimum of five years' experience as a programmer for a precision sheet metal shop and previous manufacturing experience in a precision sheet metal job shop is required.

Competency in SolidWorks software is preferred. The willingness to train others on Amada AP100US CADCAM systems is required.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands:

Must be able to safely lift up to 35lbs.

  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing, repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
