The starting salary for this role is £29,291 per annum based on working 36 hours per week.

This role is open to remote working meaning you aren't required in the office 5 days a week. We're less about you driving to work and more about us collectively driving down our carbon footprint. We care about how you work rather than where you work; the people rather than the postcode. In support of our people and our greener futures strategies, we'd welcome a conversation with the successful candidate on what remote working may look like for you.

We are pleased to be able to offer a twelve-month fixed term contract opportunity for an Assistant People Consultant within the People Consultancy team. Reporting to the People Consultant Lead, you will be joining a friendly and supportive team of People Consultants who sit within the Business Partnering and Employment Practice function of our Resources Directorate.

Working alongside managers and stakeholders across the council, you will be equipped with a "can do" attitude reflecting a commitment to continuous improvement and be an active driver for change.

As an Assistant People Consultant you will be supporting and advising managers across the council on HR queries, with an outcome focused approach, in line with SCC policies and best practice.

As an entry role to People Consultancy, you will drive your development, demonstrate resilience in the face of setbacks or challenges and be solutions focused as you will operate in sometimes ambiguous situations.

To be shortlisted for interview, your application should evidence the following:

  • How you have used initiative, knowledge and insight to identity a problem and seek a solution focused outcome.
  • Where you have delivered high quality advice and support to a customer.
  • Your excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships with colleagues, managers and stakeholders.
  • The ability to work autonomously and/or collaboratively on a project or piece of work when required.
  • That you would be willing to study for, be working towards or already have a CIPD qualification.

You will be joining a dedicated and supportive team of professionals who are passionate about people and providing advice and guidance that enables and empowers our managers and stakeholders to make the best decisions.

At Surrey, our values and behaviours are just as important as our skills and abilities. They shape who we are as an organisation. Find out more about the values we follow.
